The 1st Laboratory Center of Patras, after big effort, completed the KA1 Learning Mobility program with the title VET Staff and Students Development and code 2020-1-EL01-KA102-062305. In the framework of the program, activities were implemented for the training of both trainees and teachers. The specific program was interrupted due to the pandemic in February 2020 and continued in October 2021.

For the trainees, a long-term training activity was implemented in Cyprus lasting three months, in which 8 recent graduates of the 3rd Class of EPA.L. and the apprenticeship class. The activity was implemented between 11/11/2019 - 10/02/2020. The participants were graduates Car Mechanics Technicians, Nursing Assistants, IT Applications technicians and Electronic and Computer Systems, Installations, Networks and Telecommunications Technicians. The participants worked in companies with a subject related to the VET field of study from which they had recently graduated. The aim of the activity was for the participants to acquire technical knowledge and skills which will support a smooth transition from education to work. During their stay in Cyprus, the participants had the opportunity to visit attractions and get to know its history and culture. In addition to the technical skills that the participants developed, they had the opportunity to develop soft skills that will help them meet the demands of the modern work environment.

Also, short-term mobility was organized in Bilbao, Spain, for eight trainees of the specialties Car Mechanics Technician, Mechanical Installations and Construction Technician and Electrical Systems, Installations and Networks Technician. The activity was implemented between 01 - 22/09/2022. As in long-term mobility, participants worked in companies and gained valuable work experience.

The program also included a training activity for teachers on Blockchain technology, which has a very significant penetration in many professional fields. The activity was implemented in Barcelona between 09-16/02/2020. The participants attended seminars in which the possibilities of applying the technology in various fields were analyzed, while technical visits were organized to professional bodies that plan projects based on Blockchain technology. We typically mention the visit to the fish market in the town of Vilanova I la Geltrú where a marking system is applied to the fish caught in the area so that it is possible to separate them from the fish imported from other areas. The system was adapted to very low technical requirements and could be managed by the fish workers, who very quickly carried out the marking process just before the fish were forwarded for sale.

The program utilized methods to recognize qualifications acquired through informal learning. The educational activities were structured on the basis of the ECVET system where the expected learning outcomes were analyzed in units. Learning agreements were developed which provided for a participant assessment methodology that led to the issuance of the Transcript of Records Document listing learning outcomes, participant performance and ECVET credits awarded. For the trainees as well as for the teachers who participated in training activities, Europass Mobility Certificates were issued which mention both the technical and soft skills acquired during the training.

The program would not have been as successful as it was if we did not have successful cooperation with the intermediary and host partners. In Cyprus, we collaborated with the educational organization Shipcon Limassol LTD, in Barcelona with the organization M&M Profuture and in Bilbao with the organization Education and Mobility. All of them made appreciable efforts to meet the training needs and in the case of the training activities for the trainees, they had a very important contribution to the subsistence issues as well.

We should not fail to emphasize the fact that the activities were 100% financed by the Erasmus+ program. This helped us to give the opportunity for people to participate regardless of the possibility of financial support from the family with the only criterion being a strong motivation to participate in the educational activity.

Activities within the framework of the Erasmus+ program will continue in the period 2022 - 2023 as a new mobility program has been approved which includes training activities for both teachers and trainees. We wish we will have good news to announce when the new project come to its end.
